A Registered Investment Advisory Firm
Acting as a fiduciary advisor to individuals, families, and trusts
We provide financial planning and wealth management services to individuals, families, and trusts. As fiduciaries, we’re legally required to put your interests first. Unlike stockbrokers and many financial advisers, we can’t select investments based on compensation and don’t earn commissions. The result is unbiased advice and management.
We don’t believe you can look out for anyone’s holistic financial well-being without looking after every aspect of their financial health, which is why we provide full financial planning services. Unlike some advisors who charge extra for these services, we don’t: our management fee includes financial planning, such as retirement planning, budgeting, insurance, tax strategy, and trusts and estates reviews. We’re available to consult on any financial question, large or small. Whether you’re refinancing a mortgage, devising a charitable gifting strategy, establishing a 529 education plan, buying or selling a home, leasing a car, funding a pension, analyzing a long-term care or disability policy, or assessing an investment property, we’re there for you. Our management fee includes advice and guidance on any money matter.
When managing wealth, we don’t believe that anyone can “time” the markets or sustainably trade by guessing the short-term direction of securities prices. The next uptick or downtick of the Dow is unknowable; we’re convinced that only a charlatan would pretend otherwise. Therefore, we apply the one approach that we believe works over time: a long-term investment strategy rooted in the precepts of value investing. We don’t buy or sell based on trading strategies, charts of stock movements, or “hunches.” We believe those strategies are recipes for eventual failure, no matter the practitioner. We approach markets with the appropriate humility, which means ignoring “macro” calls, the next new thing, and all manner of hype and trend. We typically buy securities or funds in sectors that are unloved, unwanted, and unfashionable—and, thus, inexpensive. Those looking for a trader, market-timer, or “seer” should look elsewhere. Those looking for an investment advisor that makes decisions based on a deliberative assessment of value should consider working with us.
